Following a successful screening at the Cannes Festival, the legendary sci-fi film Ikarie XB-1 enters Czech cinemas. The digitally restored version returns the film to the form it had when it was first made in 1963. The ceremonial premiere will take place on Thursday 16 June at 8.30 pm, in two cities simultaneously! At the same time, the Ikarie XB-1 experience will be shared by watchers at both Světozor cinema in the centre of Prague and the Scala at Moravské Square in Brno. The live transmission between the cinemas, provided by CESNET, is a telling proof of the fact that some visions of the sci-fi genre have become reality. Tickets to both the premieres are on sale. June 16, 2016 at TNC16 Networking Conference, he largest and most prestigious European research networking conference, CESNET has demonstrated in collaboration with the colleagues from Polish PSNC centre the first live 8K video transmission using the PC platform. An interactive transmission connected the PSNC centre in Poznan with the TCN16 conference venue in Prague across the Géant network. The transmission was implemented using the UltraGrid SW developed by CESNET for very high quality video and audio transmissions. Photos are available in the photo gallery. Faculty of Informatics held the Poster competition for doctoral students on Thursday 16. Three of nine participants were members of our laboratory. Janka Pazúriková presented her poster about Electronegativity Equalization Parametrization with the differential evolution method. Tereza Pařilová with the poster What You Get Is Not What You See presented her work on tools helping people with dyslexia. Last but not least, Michal Zíma participated with his project Coincer: Trade cryptocurrencies without any trusted party. Tereza and Michal achieved 2nd and 3rd place. Congrats!
